CWR for UBC / Abramus

UBC / Abramus administers performance and mechanical rights in Brazil. Brazil's two leading rights associations.

History

UBC was founded in 1942 and Abramus in 1982; both operate under ECAD, the central collection bureau created by Brazilian law in 1973, which collects performance royalties nationally on behalf of its member associations — a structure unique to Brazil.

CWR at UBC / Abramus

Registration happens at the association level, and foreign catalogs enter through Brazilian representation built from the publisher's CWR. The associations work CWR-era data through CISAC's networks even though ECAD itself is a collection body, not a registration destination.

Like nearly every CISAC society, UBC / Abramus works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
