CWR song check: shares, ISWCs and rejections, song by song
A CWR file is a list of songs, and a society accepts or rejects them one by one. CWR Check reads every song in your file and tells you which ones have a problem, and what it is.

What it checks on every song
- Shares. Each right's shares add up to 100%, and no publisher takes more than the half societies allow, overall or in a territory.
- Chain of title. Each writer is linked to the publisher that represents them; writers with no publisher link are shown.
- Identifiers. The ISWC's own check digit, and recordings' ISRCs in the standard shape.
- Duplicates. Two registrations sharing one work number.
- Required fields. The fields a registration cannot do without.
What the report shows for each song
Every song gets its own card: its chain of title drawn out, its writers and publishers with their shares, and its problems. Filter to songs with errors, warnings or none, and search by title, work number or ISWC. The works export lists every song as a spreadsheet row.
Which songs a society accepted
Upload the acknowledgement (ACK) file a society sends back and the report leads with its answer, song by song: accepted, accepted with changes, rejected, or needing follow-up, with the society's own message.
And the writers on each song
The writer check looks up every writer's IPI name number and tells you how many of their works are registered under another spelling or IPI.
What stays private
Song titles are never sent to Songlinks or to anyone else. Files are checked in memory and not stored, and the writer check sends the writers' IPI name numbers and nothing else.
Questions
Does CWR Check look my songs up anywhere?
No. Songs are checked against the CWR specification and against each other within the file. Titles are never sent anywhere; only the writers' IPI name numbers go out, for the writer check.
Can it tell me why a society rejected a song?
Yes, if you upload the acknowledgement file the society sent back. The report shows each song's status and the society's message, and explains the common reasons.
How many songs can I check at once?
A file of up to 10 MB, about 12,000 songs, and up to 20 files at a time, free.
