CWR for SESAC
SESAC administers performance rights in United States. The invitation-only US PRO.
History
Founded in 1930 as the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers, SESAC is the oldest US PRO still privately held — invitation-only, owned by Blackstone since 2017, with a roster that has included Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond. With SUISA it co-owns Mint, the multi-territory digital licensing venture.
CWR at SESAC
SESAC sits outside MusicMark: affiliated publishers deliver CWR to it directly. Its smaller, curated repertoire means registration issues tend to be resolved person-to-person rather than by automated rejection.
Publishers deliver CWR files to SESAC directly (as members, affiliates, or sub-publishers). Like nearly every CISAC society, SESAC works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
