CWR for GMR
GMR administers performance rights in United States. Global Music Rights — the youngest and smallest US PRO, also invitation-only.
History
Founded in 2013 by Irving Azoff, GMR was the first new American PRO in roughly 75 years. It represents a deliberately small roster of major writers and negotiates outside the consent decrees that bind ASCAP and BMI — a bet that scarce, premium repertoire beats scale.
CWR at GMR
With a few hundred writers rather than a million, GMR's registration flows are bespoke: delivery is arranged directly when you affiliate, CWR included by arrangement.
Publishers deliver CWR files to GMR directly (as members, affiliates, or sub-publishers). Like nearly every CISAC society, GMR works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
