History

Founded in 1922, SABAM manages not only music but literary, audiovisual, and visual works — one of Europe's few truly multidisciplinary societies, in a country whose linguistic split makes collective management unusually intricate.

CWR at SABAM

Music publishers register with SABAM via CWR in the standard CISAC pattern.

Publishers deliver CWR files to SABAM directly (as members, affiliates, or sub-publishers). Like nearly every CISAC society, SABAM works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
