CWR for JASRAC
JASRAC administers performance and mechanical rights in Japan. Japan's principal society and one of the world's largest collectors.
History
Founded in 1939, JASRAC administered Japanese music rights essentially alone for six decades, until the 2001 management-business law opened the market to competitors. It remains dominant, collecting more than almost any society outside Europe and the US.
CWR at JASRAC
JASRAC works CISAC's data standards society-to-society, but does not generally take CWR files from foreign publishers directly: catalogs arrive through Japanese sub-publishers, who register locally — typically working from the CWR you deliver to them. A clean file matters twice: once for your sub-publisher's systems, once for what JASRAC ultimately records.
Like nearly every CISAC society, JASRAC works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
