CWR for SAMRO
SAMRO administers performance rights in South Africa. The Southern African Music Rights Organisation — Africa's largest music society.
History
Founded in 1961, SAMRO administers performance rights across South Africa and, through agreements, much of the region; mechanicals run through CAPASSO, formed in 2014 from the merger of the older NORM and SARRAL agencies. SAMRO's scale makes it the anchor of collective management on the continent.
CWR at SAMRO
SAMRO participates in CISAC's data networks and takes CWR-era registrations from publishers and sub-publishers; confirm the current delivery channel with SAMRO or your local representative before a first delivery.
Publishers deliver CWR files to SAMRO directly (as members, affiliates, or sub-publishers). Like nearly every CISAC society, SAMRO works in the CWR 2.1 / 2.2 era — the versions in production use worldwide since the standard displaced the proprietary registration formats of the 1990s. Per-society delivery profiles do change, so confirm the current version and any local quirks before a first delivery.
