GRH / GRT — group header and trailer

Transactions travel in groups of one type (all NWR, all REV, all ACK…). GRH opens a group and declares its type and CWR version; GRT closes it and states the control totals a society checks before trusting the contents.

The exact field layout — positions, sizes, and formats — is defined in CISAC's CWR specification (CWR19-1070R1), available to CISAC members and licensees. The validator implements the full layout: drop a file on it and every GRH / GRT line is parsed field by field, with problems tied to the exact characters at fault.
